Interview with Mr. Kelly

Name: Mr. Kelly

Gender: Male

Subjects: English and Art

Taking advantage of the last few minutes of English class, we decided to interview our super nice teacher, Mr. Kelly. We started off with a few easy questions, but Mr. Kelly was stuck on one particular question in the end. What is the question? Just wait and see for yourself.

PS The volume of the video is a bit small, so please look at the text below if you can’t hear something clearly.

Video will be available later

    1. How long have you been teaching in this school?

Ah, this is my sixth year.

    2. Is it comparatively long or short?

I think compare to most of the teachers its long.

    3. Is it common for teachers to teach that long here?

Yeah, I’ve seen other teachers teach longer than me.

    4. What subject have you been teaching?

English and art.

    5. Does that match your major?

Yes, my master degree is on fine arts.

    6. Do you have interests for teaching other subjects?

Not necessarily.

    7. Do you prepare for every class?

Yeah.

    8. How long do you usually spend on preparing classes (per class)?

Probably… at least forty minutes.

    9. When do you prepare for class? In summer vacations, between classes, home?

Usually during the three periods of the day or right after seventh periods.

    10. Do you think it’s enough?

I feel that it is enough.

    11. Do you have more than 6 hours of free time everyday?

Yeah… Some days around six, some days less than six.

    12. Do you think it’s enough?

I think six hours will probably enough.

    13. Would you like more?

More free time?

       *nod*

I guess everyone would isn’t it? Everyone would like to spend their time.

    14. What do you usually do with your free time?

Well… I like to paint I like to draw.

    15. What do you look for in a student?

You mean what kind of qualities?

       Yes.

Someone who’s attentive, someone who does their homework.

    16. If you get to choose between a lazy student who is excellent on grades, or a hardworking student who is poor on grades, who will you choose?

I prefer *censored*

    17. So… Why do you think that student is better than the other?

I think it shows that they have the desire and ambition to better themselves. They are willing to work hard.

(Mr. Kelly likes people who do their work!)

    18. So do you think questioning your teacher is right?

To a point, I think questioning your teacher is okay. I believe that you should also respect your teacher so you question them something relevant about class.

    19. Okay… So do you think the principle or the director should be better in teaching than the teachers?

Uh… Better… Yeah better’s a difficult word uh… I think most teachers have different styles of so I don’t I guess it depends on who you thinks, which style is better.

*BELL RINGS*

20. Leave quietly guys! Uh say that again please?

I said I think that it depends on like the teaching style, maybe, one person doesn’t see this teaching style as being good…

I mean like I mean more experience.

Oh yeah I think that *nods*.

21. So our director has more teaching experience than you do? Or?

    I’m not sure…

22. So… How much entertainment do you think will be enough for children our age?

    As in what?

      As in time and degree.

You mean entertainment per day or?

      Yeah in a day.

Entertainment as in hobbies or as in video games or…

      As in video games.

Oh as in video games, then I, I don’t know, I can’t figure out I think very little time in video games…

A bit more fumbling with closing the video camera, and we’re done! We thank Mr. Kelly very much for accepting this interview.
